Have fun!! We just got back on Sunday! It was a great week, but it was long, HOT, and really busy. Now, I need a vacation from my Vacation!!
Hope you get some of those books finished! I only finished 1 book on vacation this year. Of course, we fly this time. Last time, we drove, and I read like 5 books!
Number 2, have you heard of these children's books: Ida B by Hannigan and Summerland by Chabon? Do you have an opinion as to how third graders would like them?
Thanks for all the nice thoughts and good wishes, everyone! It was a fun week, with lots of reading - and swimming, hiking, games and sightseeing. How a week can go by so much more quickly when I'm on vacation is a mystery!
Stephanie - you're right - it is much easier to read when it's a car trip, and I think I got through at least two in the car. Hope you do better next year - maybe a nice cross-country trip? :-)
And Bellezza - I haven't read either book, I'm sorry to say. But I've heard good things about Ida B. from kids at my library, and I remember reading good reviews of Summerland - I believe it's a fantasy/baseball kind of story, which would certainly appeal to 3rd graders. Good luck getting your room ready!
Darla, thanks for responding! I think I'll start with Ida B., as Summerland is about 900 pages. I don't want to overwhelm them the first month of school. I'll let you know how these books are received. Thanks for the well wishes, too, and back at you!
Enjoy yourself!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time!

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to take a vacation right before school starts! I'm glad you don't get nervous about preparing your room like I would.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time, Darla!
ReplyDeletelooking forward to your thoughts when you return!
