Harry Potter, Savior of Pakistan?

Thanks to Molly, who emailed me the link to this entertaining and informative article about schoolchildren in Pakistan likening their political situation to characters and situations in the Harry Potter novels. I enjoyed the way they were able to extend and explore the metaphor!

  1. You get the award for best blog post title of the day ;) lol!

  2. A nasty and flammable situation indeed...

    absurd thought -
    God of the Universe says
    let extremists rule

    they will drag your country
    back to seventh century

    absurd thought -
    God of the Universe wants
    all citizens beheaded

    for most petty offenses
    let society collapse

    absurd thought -
    God of the Universe thinks
    take all girls out of school

    they can not be allowed
    to achieve more than a man

  3. What a great article. Thanks for the link!

  4. Well, Chris - I can't take the credit for the title - I stole it from the subject line of Molly's email message! Too funny! And now, ever since I read it, every time there's a story about Musharraf on the radio I kind of have to giggle as Voldemort's face gets superimposed over his. As bad as the situation is, of course.

    uspace - thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!

    And Nymeth - you're so welcome!

  5. To me this says something about Pakistan's education system...but that might be my Indian bias, hee hee.

  6. Ha! You are funny, VA Gal! :-D
