Another amazing bookstore

I have posted in the past about very cool bookstores, but I just came across this amazing one and absolutely had to add it to the list. It is located inside a former Dominican church in the Netherlands, and its architects, Merkx and Girod, recently won the Lensvelt de Architect Interior Prize for their design. For more information and amazing photos, see this article and this flickr page. Add this one to the library/bookstore touring plan!

  1. That's just so cool. Why aren't there beautiful places like that near me?!

  2. Wouldn't that be great? Kind of makes our regular bookstores a bit dull, doesn't it?!

  3. Peoria certainly doesn't have ANY stores that look like this!! I would love to go to this store!!

As far as Stardust goes, I think your daughters would love it. The violence isn't all that much to be honest. No gore. It's done in a fairy tale sort of way. There is death....but it's mostly the brothers that are trying to gain control of Stronghold. (and their ghosts stick around until the new king is crowned.) Michelle Pfeiffer, as the evil witch, is mean...but nothing bloody. It's great fun. My kids (5, 7, and 11) loved it!!

  4. Thanks for the feedback on Stardust, Stephanie - it's #1 in my queue, so we'll be on for FMN (family movie night) next weekend. If I'd known, I'd have taken them to see it in the theater!

  9. I'd love to do that vacation around the world, VA Gal! That would be a blast. The only problem would be how to get all those books back home!

Yeah, it's pretty amazing, isn't it, Barbara! Want to come on the world bookstore/library tour w/VA Gal and me? :-)
