Now HERE are some amazing libraries

In this age of drastic budget cuts, when we're all worried about the next mandate to come down the line and how that will affect our library collections, or the service that we'll be able to provide our customers, it did my heart good to take a look at these amazing libraries, posted at Curious Expeditions. They label their post "A Librophiliac Love Letter," and that's exactly what it is. Seeing all those gorgeous libraries, a testimony to the love of books and knowledge all over the world, makes me feel a bit better. There are good times and bad times, but these libraries have survived over the years - not only that, but they've been cherished. As they should be, of course!

  3. A friend of mine was just visiting Yale as a prospective grad student and I was looking at his photos on Facebook - he told me to check out the entire album he had on the library at Yale.

OH. MY. GOD. I was swooning! I want to live in that building! I was telling a coworker who was laughing at my gasps and ooohhs that this was porn for nerds. HAHAHAHA!!! (Which from me is a shocking thing to hear since I'm know as the office prude. hee!! I'm the G-rated Admin ;)).

These are some great libraries. I would be so happy just spending my life in them!

  7. Those are amazing! Thank you so much for the link. It is incredible to think of how long these have lasted and the amount of care that has been put into preserving them and their treasures. It is a testament to the fact that at least some people have their focus in the right place.
