The diet is not easy - no grains of any kind, no cheese, no sweets, etc. But - and this is huge! - you can eat whatever you want, as much as you want, for one day a week. This splurge day tells your body that there isn't, in fact, a famine, and keeps your metabolism moving. Check out the book for more information. I haven't read it all yet, but what I've read has been fascinating. If you are curious, you can check out my first post on my new diet/food related blog, Diary of a Carbslut, which tells a little bit more about the diet.
It would be fun and inspiring to have others join me - on whatever diet or method you're using. We can give each other support and cheer each other on. If I can do this, anyone can. Please stop by and let me know if you're interested! I've never followed a diet from a book in my life, but I have high hopes for this one.
Carbs have always been my big problem too. Bread and cereal, i could live on it! I've probably followed every book diet out there that ever was popular in the past and some of them work great for fast, <30 lbs short term weight loss. Never heard of this one before, though.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I have tonnes of weight to loose and imminent health problems on the horizon if I don't. Will be finidng out in a couple of weeks if I've been accepted into the bariatric surgery weight loss program. I've changed my eating habits for about 3 mos now. vegetables, vegetables, and protien as instructed.
Nicola - It can be such a battle, can't it? I hope you are accepted into the program and can get where you want to be, weight-wise. And I hope that your change of habits has had a positive impact already. That's great that you've been doing it for three months. Best of luck!
